How does temptation affect us?

As old as humanity itself is temptation. The Devil has been trying to trick people into doing bad things since the beginning of time.

However, one thing is still true: he can only suggest, trick, and influence people; he cannot make them commit evil. We always have the final say in every matter.

Despite his constant temptation, the Devil fails. The devil has attempted to lead many astray numerous times, but I have always been forewarned by an inner voice.

This voice is perceived by the devil as a "gossiper" since it reveals every malicious scheme before it is carried out. There's always the silent cautionary tale: "Avoid temptation." This is a trap. Unfortunately, a lot of people disregard this caution and place the responsibility for their problems on the devil.

 However, knowledge instructs us:

"Each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust and greed."

This implies that temptation exists, but it only succeeds when we give in to our impulses, whether they be selfish, prideful, or greedy.

Why Do Individuals Get Into Problems? We frequently hear tales of people who are caught stealing, defrauding, or corrupting others, only to claim that "it was the devil."

But can someone be saved in a court of law by such an excuse? No judge will release a defendant based only on his assertion that "Satan made me do it."

The fact is, every action starts with a personal choice.

This is the reason why many get into trouble:

 1. Ignoring the Inner caution: There is always a caution before a mistake. Some decide to overlook it.

 2. Lust and Greed: Rather of exercising self-control, many people are captivated by their appetites. The opponent just takes advantage of our preexisting desires.

 3. Peer Pressure: Some people let other people pressure them into doing something bad. They are more afraid of being rejected than of the repercussions.

 4. Shortcuts to Success: Some people think that the quickest route to wealth is by dishonest means, but they forget that "ill-gotten wealth is soon lost."

You Have the Ability to Opt Out

Fortunately, no one is powerless to resist temptation. Knowledge imparts: "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Satan only remains in places where he is accepted. He cannot control you if you reject him.

As soon as you hear the inner warning, follow it. Remain steadfast in your moral principles when you are under pressure to commit evil.

Remind yourself that nothing is worth sacrificing your integrity, dignity, or tranquility for when temptation strikes.
